The nervous system controls the work of all organs and systems of the body. It controls the work of the heart and endocrine glands, metabolism and muscle work, our movements and emotions.
The nervous system is divided into central and peripheral.
The central nervous system includes the brain and spinal cord, while the peripheral nervous system includes nerve nodes and nerves. In addition, they distinguish the somatic nervous system, which innervates the sense organs and the motor apparatus, and the autonomic nervous system, which innervates the internal organs and blood vessels.
Massage affects both the central nervous system and the peripheral one. In some cases, it excites, which, for example, is necessary in cases of apathy, while in others it calms, which is actively used to relieve muscle tension, to improve the quality of sleep.
It is generally accepted that massage helps to increase physical and mental performance, relieves fatigue, causes a feeling of cheerfulness and lightness, which is due to the effect on the nervous system.
